3 Photographers      Elsa Campbell, Todd Fairchild & Peter Pizzi

Maverick Gallery at 37 Maverick Square in East Boston presents 3 Photographers, recent photographs by Elsa Campbell, Todd Fairchild and Peter Pizzi on exhibit from May 4 through June 30, 2005.
Elsa Campbell is a photographer and book artist, who has shown her work throughout the U.S. The images in this exhibit are black & white altered and toned photographs of fruit and vegetables. Elsa began making photographs in the early seventies when she received a used twin lens reflex camera in the mail from a distant relative. She works mostly in black & white which she then hand-colors or uses an alternative photographic process to enhance the image. Elsa often incorporates photographs in her artist’s books.
Todd Fairchild is a photographer and collage artist who makes images about life within a mass-produced environment. Todd will be exhibiting Polaroid images from a series themed ‘Happiness’, which use images of toys, trinkets and nature to represent the complexity of this cliché term. Todd is a graduate from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and has been a working artist in Boston since the early 90s.
Peter Pizzi is a filmmaker and photographer. His photos in this collection reflect these mediums. All of the prints have a "filmic" quality; be it the play on light, an emphasis on film grain, or a pronounced use of color. The landscapes, such as a parking lot resembling a mars landing; and one of the characters, an extreme close up of a Christ like figure - portrayed in these images will convey a particular "scene". More information about Peter and his work can be found at ww.magicclubfilms.com
The public is invited to attend an opening reception on Saturday May 21st from 6-8pm. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 10am – 6pm, or by appointment.
