LOVE IS BLIND
The Story....

* Starring * Michelle Tea

Love is blind is about the age-old adage of the same name… Just why do we make the choices we make in Love – who knows….?

Betty is a girl out of luck and out of love – she has had it with her rock star girlfriend Crystal. She is clearly distraught, discouraged – she meanders around eating cheese curls.

& Saskia Hagen Groom

Lucy however is a horse of a different color – she’s a renegade, a firecracker. She’s a whiskey-drinking Mama with the mouth of sailor. She’s also legally blind.

When Betty and Lucy meet the sparks fly… and so do the – um… bullets!?!

The Shoot...

Our first task began with make-up and wardrobe. Jeremy O’Neail zipped into Jamaica Plain (the site of our green room) to begin the “aging” process on Saskia.

Lucy is a 70-plus year old woman – Saskia, who played Lucy is a lot younger.

The makeover for Mz. Tea was not a stretch… - young, urban, chic… with Cleopatra eyes.

As for the make-up on Hiram, Tom and Gaetano – check out this great recipe for blood…

Blood Recipe - Corn Syrup, Food coloring, red & blue. Mix mostly red with a splash of blue – figure out your appropriate amount (it’s always best to have extra) – use your best judgment on the coloring – and presto – you’ve got professional blood on your set. And you’ve saved a few bucks!
On Location....
Love is blind was primarily an outdoor shoot. Shot in the back roads and alleys of Allston , Mass. The interior was shot in the infamous Blanchard’s Liquors. We crammed a decent size undertaking into a day of filmmaking.

When we were filming some of the more “dangerous” scenes - three times we had to stop filming and explain to a few braves souls, that this was just a movie…

I mean, who know that a young bike messenger would leap from his bicycle to impede a car-hijacking. Who knew that a homeless man would come to the aid of Betty & Lucy as they were jeered with derogatory names? And finally, Who knew that a man would offer another fellowman a cigarette as he lay dying on the sidewalk.

When the cigarette wasn’t accepted he offered a dollar to the dying man – then finally his cell phone to use. Perhaps to make that last phone call…

The honor, bravery and integrity displayed, was notable and commendable. I was impressed – seriously!

The Love Scene…

Yes there is a love scene – there goes the PG-rating…! It’s in a parked car, the back seat – and it almost turns into a 3-way, almost… Nothing testifies to fine acting than a good sex scene – Mission accomplished!
